Chart Note | After Visit Summary (AVS)

After visit summaries are patient specific documents provided to patients immediately following an encounter to communicate treatment and essential clinical content.
User's Guide
Print AVS:
Beginning in a completed note
Select the triple dot in the top right of the note header
Select Print after visit summary from the drop down menu
Select the desired print options in the print modal that displays the document preview
AVS Contents:
To-Do List: Displays outstanding tasks for the patient to complete. This includes the following:
Diagnostic tests/imaging or consults ordered during the encounter using the Image command, Lab Order command, and the Refer
Any instructions given using the Instruct command
Unscheduled follow up appointments requested using the Follow Up command.
Medications: Displays all medications that were started, stopped or continued during the encounter. This includes the following:
Any medications captured using the Prescribe, Adjust Prescription, Stop Medication, Refill or Approve Refill commands.
Today's Visit: Displays the following information if performed during the encounter:
Any vitals captured during the visit
Assessment and diagnose commands
Any procedures(Perform command)
Immunizations (Immunize command)
Upcoming Appointments: Displays any future appointments that have already been scheduled.
FAQ
Q: Will delegated referrals and image orders display for the patient?
A: No, any incomplete commands including delegated actions will not display on the AVS
Q: Can I customize any part of the After Visit Summary?
A: Not at this time.
Q: Can I send the AVS to the patient electronically or does it display in the patient app?
A: The AVS is only available to print at this time and does not display to the patient in the patient app. If you would like to communicate electronically out of Canvas, a PDF can be created via the Chrome print preview to provide to the patient using your individual clinic's secure messaging.
