Saved Payment Methods, also known as “Card on File,” allow patients and clinic staff to securely store and manage credit card information for future payments using Stripe. Saved payment methods eliminate the need to manually enter payment details, making transactions faster, more secure, and more convenient for both patients and staff.
Managing Payment Methods
Saved payment methods are stored on the patient profile under the insurance section (collapsed by default).
Adding a New Payment Method
Click “Add Payment Method” in the patient profile or patient app.
Enter the required details:
Card number
Expiration date
Security code
Patient consent toggle (Consent must be obtained before saving a card).
Modifying or Removing a Payment Method
Click the pencil icon next to a saved payment method.
Utilizing saved payment methods require an active Stripe integration.
Users will have access to payment methods with the following user permissions
Revenue Access – Users can collect payments using saved methods but cannot add or modify them.
Profile Read – Users can view saved payment methods but cannot add, use, or modify them.
Profile Write – Users can add, use, and modify saved payment methods.
Faster and More Convenient Payments – Reduces manual entry by allowing patients and staff to securely store and reuse credit cards, streamlining transactions.
Improved Payment Collection – Encourages timely payments by making it easier for patients to pay outstanding balances while preventing expired cards from being used.
Enhanced Flexibility and Security – Patients have full control over their stored cards, while organizations can enforce consent requirements and restrict access based on user permissions.
