The Family History command allows the user to document the patient's family history.
FAQ:
Q: Can I add multiple family members to a specific condition?
A: Yes - you will enter multiple family history commands for each member with the same condition.
Q: Can I enter multiple conditions for the same family member?
A: Yes - you will enter multiple family history commands for each condition for an individual family member.
Q: How do I document the patient is adopted?
A: Enter "not known - adopted" as the condition and the relative as "adopted"
Q: I made a mistake, how do I remove this command?
A: Commands can be entered in error, but not deleted. Please review the Entering a Command in Error document for directions.
Step by Step
This process begins in an open line of a note of the patient's chart.
Type "family", "history", or "fhx" into a blank line within the note.
Select command by hitting Enter on your keyboard.
Type the condition of the family member.
Hit Enter on the keyboard once the desired condition populates.
Navigate through the remaining fields by selecting Tab between each field
Relative: the family member's relationship to the patient
Note: any additional notes or comments such as the age of diagnosis, or any other relevant information. Field has a 512 character limit.
Click RECORD to commit the command to the note.
NOTE: The entry immediately becomes visible in the left side panel under Family History
